Meet Silver MR and Silver HL.
 
The gateway pillars at Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST) reinterpret the institution’s identity through the interplay of Silver MR and Silver HL. The high reflectivity of Silver MR highlights the conceptual meanings embodied by the four pillars: intellect, scholarship, passion, and youth. This creates an entrance that feels open and forward looking. The fine linear texture of Silver HL enhances the sculptural geometry of the structure and guides the viewer’s gaze through and between the pillars while reinforcing a sense of spatial openness.

Together, these materials visually articulate GIST’s role as a hub for future talent and express the spirit of research and exchange through architectural form. As a unified sculptural presence, the pillars serve as a contemporary beacon at the campus threshold, subtly marking the entrance to a place of knowledge and discovery.
